Two Glasgow cats dumped in box labelled 'we are homeless' looking for forever home
Two Glasgow cats found abandoned in a box labelled 'we are homeless' are now in need of a new home.
The two-year-old sisters were discovered by a dog walker in early August and taken in by Cats Protection where they were named Gaby and Bree.
After receiving care to ensure they are happy and healthy, they are ready to be rehomed.
Gaby and Bree are at the charity’s Glasgow Cat Centre, which has seen an increase in abandoned animals over the past year or so.

Helyn Nicholl, Deputy Centre Manager, said: “We have noticed an alarming rise in the number of cats being dumped, both on our doorstep and around the wider area, which we believe is due to the rising cost of living.
“We’re also seeing more and more cats being brought to us for rehoming as their owners simply can’t afford to keep them. It’s a really sad situation for both the people and the cats.
“Luckily Gaby and Bree were in a reasonably good condition when they arrived with us, but things could have been much worse if they hadn’t been found when they were.
“We understand that times are tough, but we would ask people to please, please get in touch with us if they’re struggling, rather than dumping their cats. We do have a waiting list of cats needing to come into care, but we will help as soon as we’re able to.”

The centre team is now seeking a new home for Gaby and Bree where they can settle in at their own pace. They would be best suited to a home without young children and with a garden that they can explore once they feel secure in their new surroundings.
Helyn added: “They’re sweet cats who really deserve a second chance at a happy life. While Gaby enjoys a fuss and a wee chat, Bree is understandably a bit more reserved after what they’ve been through, so may take a little longer to regain her confidence. We’d love to hear from anyone who can offer a forever home to these gorgeous girls.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for supporting us to help cats in need like Gaby and Bree. Together we’re making a better life for cats, because life is better with cats.”
