Two Glasgow restaurants named on best Sunday roasts in the UK hot list
A new list revealing the UK's 50 best places to get a Sunday roast has just been announced and two Glasgow spots have been named.
The Good Food Guide has today announced its Top 50 Best Sunday Roasts in Britain and both The Loveable Rogue, which has three restaurants in the west, east and south sides of the city, and Porter and Rye in Finnieston have been named.
The Guide’s search for the best Sunday roast underlines the importance of championing those restaurants, pubs and cafes that are the backbone of the British dining scene.

Synonymous with tradition and family gatherings and offered everywhere from simple neighbourhood cafes to grand hotel dining rooms, it is obvious from the thousands of nominations received that a Sunday roast is, by far, Britain’s favourite meal with 75 per cent of Good Food Guide readers saying a roast is Britain’s most famous dish.
Delighted to be named as one of only four Scottish venues on the prestigious list, co-owner of Lovable Rogue, Amalia Lazzerini, said: "Our team is overjoyed to be included in The Good Food Guides' inaugural Sunday roast rankings. The Rogue Roast is one of our best-selling dishes at all of our neighbourhood locations, and guests return week after week to enjoy the mighty feast. This ranking is testimony to our Head Chef Joe and all our team who deliver great food and top class service to customers day after day and to be acknowledged for the hard work and consistency with our Sunday roast is a real achievement for us all".
Their famous Sunday roast has become a staple on the menu with over 80,000 customers enjoying their Rogue Roast since the restaurant brand's inception. Their 'Rogue Roast' offers tender Speyside beef, yorkies, beef fat garlic roasties, brisket mac ‘n’ cheese, honey root veg, vegetable ecrasé and red wine gravy. The menu is available every Sunday from 12pm - 9pm at all three locations priced at £32pp for two courses or three courses for £36pp.
In addition, The Good Food Guide also quizzed its readers about their Sunday roast habits, giving us a fantastic insight into Britain’s favourite meal.
Half of the Good Food Guide readers surveyed eat a roast on another day of the week than Sunday with 79 per cent eating a Sunday roast all year round.
The most popular roast meat was, as perhaps expected, roast beef (50 per cent) followed by lamb (22 per cent). Roast potatoes are the nation’s favourite side dish with cauliflower cheese coming in second - both beating the Yorkshire pudding. Gravy is the favourite condiment, although 50 per cent of those surveyed don’t think their roast is served with enough gravy.
