Two hospitalised after crash near Seaton Delaval which closed road

Two people were injured in a rush-hour crash on the A192 at Seaton Delaval.

The incident took place on the stretch of road between Shankhouse and Seaton Delaval, to the north of the village and the police and ambulance service each attended. It took place shortly before 9am on Thursday.

The road was closed for more than two hours.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called to a road traffic collision this morning shortly before 9am on A192 at Seaton Delaval. We dispatched two ambulance crews and one clinical team leader. Two patients were taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital."

Northumbria Police reported officers had been called out shortly before 9am and that no-one was thought to have been seriously injured. The road was re-opened by midday.
