Two men have been arrested after crashing a car into a traffic island in the early hours of the morning.

Police saw an Audi A3 driving between Great Harwood and Clayton-le-Moors, and officers attempted to stop the car on Whalley Road at approximately 3.30am this morning (October 7).

After the car crashed into a traffic island, the men ran from the car.

One man was detained nearby, with a second arrested with the help of police dog Viper.

A number of tools were found in the Audi.

Two men, aged 21 and 19, remain in custody after being arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft.
