Two men suffer life-threatening injuries after crash just over Cambridgeshire border
Two men have been left with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Newmarket, Suffolk. The incident took place at the junction of The Street and Court Barns at about 4.45pm on Monday (September 23).
The men, aged 18 and 70, remain in a critical condition in hospital. One further casualty, a 16-year-old boy, suffered slight injuries, while a 19-year-old man from Newmarket has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "The collision at the junction of The Street and Court Barns at about 4.45pm yesterday (September 23) involved a black Mercedes CLA 180 and a grey Mercedes E350. The vehicles collided at the junction, before leaving the road and crashing into the wall of a nearby property.

"The driver of the black Mercedes, a 19-year-old man from Newmarket, has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at Parkside Police Station.
"An 18-year-old man, who was a passenger in the black car, suffered life-threatening injuries and the second passenger, a 16-year-old boy, suffered slight injuries. The driver of the grey car, a 70-year-old man, suffered life-threatening injuries. All those injured were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital."
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called just after 4.45pm on Monday 23 September with reports of a road traffic collision at a crossroad on Duchess Drive near Newmarket. Two ambulances, two ambulance officer vehicles and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
"Two adult men were transported by road to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment, one of whom was in a serious condition.”
Cambridgeshire Police is appealing for witnesses. Those who saw the crash or have dashcam footage are urged to contact police force via its website, quoting incident 336 of September 23.
