Two months of Mansfield Road roadworks begin as disruption expected on key Nottingham route
Disruption is expected to hit a key commuter route in and out of Nottingham as two months of roadworks begin. Lanes have been closed on both sides of Mansfield Road, in Woodthorpe, due to ongoing gas mains replacements, while nearby Woodthorpe Drive has been shut in both directions.
The work started on Monday, September 30 and is expected to continue until December 6. Cadent, which is carrying out the work, said it was laying new plastic pipes ready for "greener gas".
A lane is shut northbound in Mansfield Road between Woodthorpe Drive and Magnus Road, while the bus lane in the opposite direction is closed off. The route is frequently used by commuters who travel to the city from Arnold, Calverton and more northern parts of the county.
Buses which include the 58, Calverton and Pronto, will also not serve two stops in the area - outside Tesco Express and by Woodthorpe Meadow. Cadent said: "Here at Cadent, we look after the gas pipes in your area.
"We make sure the pipes that bring the gas to your home keep you safe, warm and connected. We’re replacing the old pipes with new plastic ones which will mean that you’ll be ready for greener gas in the future.
"We’ll have to turn off your gas supply during some of our works and may need access to your home, but our teams on site will be on hand to let you know more information."
