Two people taken to hospital after three cars crash near County Durham hotel

Two people have been hospitalised after three cars crashed outside a hotel near Newton Aycliffe today (Thursday, December 7).

Emergency services, including the North East Ambulance Service and the fire and rescue service, responded to the scene.

The road was closed as patients were assessed and treated at the scene, and vehicles were recovered.

A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.47 pm today to attend a road traffic collision on the A6072 involving three vehicles. We dispatched two paramedic crews, a doctor, a rapid response paramedic, our HART crew and a clinical team leader.

"We were supported by the fire and rescue service at the scene and took two patients to hospital - one with wrist, head and leg injuries and the other with head and chest injuries."
