Two Rescued by Helicopter From Drifting Boat in Victoria

A man and woman were rescued by helicopter from a drifting boat off the coast of Johanna, Victoria, on Thursday, January 5, footage released by Victoria Police shows.

Victoria Police first received a call from the boat’s skipper at 8:30 pm local time, saying he was 750 meters from the shore and could not start or anchor his boat.

The Air Wing was called in as it was believed the boat could roll, police said.

A 52-year-old South Australia man and a 52-year-old Bentleigh East woman were winched from the boat and taken to shore in Apollo Bay, police said. No injuries were reported. Credit: Victoria Police via Storyful
