Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust has moved its teams into the second floor of the newly refurbished building in a joint venture between Locking Hill Surgery and the Stroud Valleys Family Practice.

The development, which cost £6.5m to remodel, is a key part of Dransfield Properties’ ongoing work in the centre of Stroud and the redevelopment of the Five Valleys Shopping Centre.

Managing Director of Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield DL, said: “We’re proud to welcome this latest vital NHS service into our development.

"The community within Stroud now have accessible health services in a convenient location and it’s great to see this once tired building fully come to life.”

Sarah Nicholson, the Trust’s Lead Physiotherapist, said: “The premises are lovely with new clinic rooms, a large gym area and well-designed reception.

“Along with the gym, reception and waiting area, the new premises has 14 consulting or treatment rooms, bathrooms with showers, a staff room and storage and equipment rooms.

“I’m sure it’s going to offer our Stroud patients an improved experience.

"The building is new and modern.

"Having different therapists based together allows everyone to work jointly with patients as well as sharing their skills with colleagues.”

The new facility opened on Wednesday and brings the relocation of these services from Stroud General Hospital and Beeches Green GP Surgery.

The practice is also conveniently located next door to the Five Valleys Shopping Centre with plenty of amenities nearby including a number of key high street names for household essentials as well as a great selection of independent outlets for fashion, gifts, home accessories and artisan food.

A team of 30 have now joined the 50 members of NHS staff already located at the building bringing a welcomed boost to the town centre economy.
