Two Wetherspoon pubs in Lincoln recognised in Loo of the Year Awards
Two Wetherspoon pubs in Lincoln have been recognised in the Loo of the Year Awards. The Ritz on High Street and The Square Sail on the Brayford Wharf North have each been awarded a platinum grading by inspectors.
The annual awards aim to improve the standards of toilet provisions across the UK, and each year Loo of the Year Awards inspectors make unannounced visits to thousands of toilets at sites across the country. Each of the toilets are then graded bronze, silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus or diamond.
However, if a site has toilets in an unacceptable standard it will not be graded at all. Some of the criteria considered is the general decoration and maintenance, as well as the cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment, plus the overall management of the toilets.

Ritz manager, Ashley Clayton, said: "We are delighted with the grading. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors."
Managing director of the 2024 Loo of the Year Awards, Becky Wall, said: "The toilets at the two pubs have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained. The pubs deserve their platinum awards."
