Typhoon Kompasu Forces School Closures and Trading Halt in Hong Kong

Typhoon Kompasu brought powerful winds to Hong Kong on October 13, prompting a gale warning and the closure of morning stock market trading.

The Hong Kong Observatory issued the “No.8” storm signal at around 5 pm on October 12 and kept the warning in force until 12pm on October 13.

The storm earlier brought flooding and powerful winds to the Philippines. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported 13 people dead and 8 missing as a result of the storm.
