Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has revealed Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are now in full training every day as they both close in on a return to action.

Mings was ruled out for the remainder of last season after suffering a devastating ACL injury in the opening game against Newcastle, while Kamara picked up his knee ligament injury back in February. Villa delved into the transfer market to give Kamara more competition when he is back available as Amadou Onana signed from Everton in a club record £50m deal.

Onana has hit the ground running at Villa and has impressed alongside compatriot Youri Tielemans in midfield. The big Belgian has also scored three goals in as many away appearances at the start of this season.

"He’s playing and adapting quickly because he has one competitor in the squad in Kamara and he is going to be available soon," Emery said. "Mings and Kamara are now training consistently with the team. They started this week and this is good news.

"Amadou Onana - with Barkley, with Tielemans, with Kamara - he is going to try to get stronger in our structure and in our tactical idea in the team. His quality is to wish to learn quickly and adapt quickly."

Asked if he had been expecting Onana to chip in with goals so soon after joining, Emery responded: "He is important in everything. We missed Tyrone Mings from set-pieces last year offensively and defensively. A player who is that tall is important and Onana has added that.

"He can add goals as well when he is getting in the box, attacking and trying to be in good balance on the pitch. He can push to get in the box as well."

After beating BSC Young Boys on Tuesday night, Villa return to Premier League duties on Saturday as Emery's side host Wolves at Villa Park (3pm kick-off).
