Tyson Fury laid down the challenge to Oleksandr Usyk as the two heavyweight champions went head-to-head in an intense face-off.

Unified WBA ‘Super’, IBF, WBO and IBO title-holder Usyk was at ringside at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night to watch Fury retain his WBC belt in emphatic fashion in front of 60,000 fans with an utterly dominant 10th-round stoppage of Derek Chisora, also supporting fellow Ukrainian Denys Berinchyk, who won the European lightweight gold after beating Yvan Mendy.

Fury called out Usyk after his fourth successive stoppage win and rained down the expletive-ridden insults, provoking his rival to jump up onto the ring apron for a fierce staredown.

“You are next you b***h,” Fury roared at Usyk, who stayed quiet and smirking despite the torrent of abuse. “You rabbit. You p****y.

“15 stone little midget beat a bodybuilder. But I ain’t a bodybuilder sucker, I’m going to write you off. I already done one Ukrainian in [Wladimir] Klitschko didn’t I, and I’ll do you as well gappy teeth.

“Lets get it on b***h. You may laugh now but I’ll end this little sucker. I’ll end you. You little sucker. What are you gonna do? You’re gonna do f**k all you little sausage.”

In response, Usyk described the showdown as “good sparring” and declared: “I’ve never been scared of him [Fury].”

The manufactured post-fight histrionics then became even more dramatic as another heavyweight contender, WBO interim champion Joe Joyce, also joined the fray as he looks to fight one or both of Fury and Usyk in future after his dramatic late knockout of Joseph Parker in Manchester in September.

“Why don’t us three do a royal rumble then?!” Fury said.

Fury later pledged in a separate interview with BT Sport that he would fight Joyce at Wembley in early 2023 if the Usyk undisputed bout could not be finalised, though also admitted that he likely now requires surgery on an elbow injury, throwing the timeline of the whole division into further question.
