Tyson Fury has opened the door to a potential cross-promotional fight with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

Fury, whose only stray into exhibition territory so far came when he was briefly involved with the WWE back in 2019, took to Twitter to ask supporters whether or not they would be interested in watching the two clash under “boxing rules”.

Exhibition events may largely be scoffed at by purists but the idea of bout between the two is certainly interesting, given their respective profiles. Two champions in their fields, it’s a mouth-watering prospect even at this stage.

Fury has trained with kickboxer Darren Till before and expressed an interest in moving into MMA while Ngannou has hinted he would be open to facing the WBC heavyweight champion in the past.

Ngannou will meet Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 later this month to unify his heavyweight title with the latter’s interim crown.
