Anti-social Londoners everywhere were left bereft with the news that they would have to resort to public transport following TfL's shock decision to revoke Uber's London licence. Or, y'know, stump up for another cab company.

But way more important than having to face other people on the Central line or the night bus – or even holding onto that hard-fought five star rating – is food.

More specifically, what do today's developments mean for your beloved UberEATS order?

In a word: nothing. So there's no need to panic about where you'll get your next hungover McDonald's from. (Thankfully.)

Uber has confirmed that if and when its licence expires, the UberEATS service will be unaffected.

Reassuring its hungry users, Uber told Metro: "The licence only applies to private-hire operations as it's granted by Transport for London so UberEATS is not impacted by the licence – or lack of."

Transport for London confirmed that Uber would no longer be allowed to operate legally in the city earlier today (September 22), insisting the company is "not fit and proper", although Uber can continue operating while it appeals the decision and has "exhausted" any appeal processes.

In a statement, the transport body said: "TfL considers that Uber's approach and conduct demonstrate a lack of corporate responsibility in relation to a number of issues which have potential public safety and security implications."

The issues raised by TfL include Uber's approach to reporting serious criminal offences and how medical certificates are obtained.

Uber has said that it was "astounded" by TfL's decision, and announced its intention to immediately challenge the ruling.

So our speedy Friday night Uber home might not be safe, but our precious cheeseburger and fries are. For now.
