Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame to arrive for iOS and Android

Ubisoft has announced a new Prince of Persia game - called Prince of Persia: The Shadow and Flame - for iOS and Android devices.

The original Prince of Persia game released in 1993 and then re-released as a 3D version in 2007, but the entire franchise has nearly a dozen versions of the action-adventure game with a focus on different incarnations of the eponymous prince. The latest edition by Ubisoft will launch 25 July on the App Store, Google Play and Amazon.

Originally unveiled in April, the new title is an adaptation that offers 2D gameplay with more combat and enemies. It also has options for both virtual joystick or gesture-based controls. As for gameplay, Ubisoft said it was a continuation of the "age old saga", where the Prince-born wanderer returns and searches for his unknown past to redefine his future.

Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame will cost £1.99 for iOS and Android.
