UK bank holidays 2025 - full list for the rest of the year
In the coming months, seven bank holidays are on the horizon for England and Wales.
The government confirmed in November 2024 that there will be no additional bank holidays this year to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two. The Daily Express had previously hinted that ministers were contemplating extra days off to celebrate Victory in Europe (VE) Day or Victory over Japan (VJ) Day from 1945. However, Downing Street clarified in November that this was not being considered, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Being aware of the upcoming bank holidays in the UK can help you plan your time off and make the most of these dates. If a bank holiday falls on a weekend, a 'substitute' weekday, usually the following Monday, becomes a bank holiday.

It's worth noting that employers are not obliged to give paid leave on bank or public holidays. Bank holidays may also impact when and how your benefit payments are made.
