UK coronavirus news LIVE: Millions of facemasks being delivered to NHS frontline as 20k former staff return to fight Covid-19, Government says

Millions of face masks, gloves and aprons are being delivered to frontline healthcare workers in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government has announced.

Robert Jenrick told a Downing Street briefing on Sunday that masses of personal protective equipment (PPE) were being delivered to NHS staff - including 170 million masks.

It comes as Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that 20,000 NHS staff would be returning to the service to fight the virus.

Earlier today, deputy chief medical officer Dr Jenny Harries said the UK could face six months of lockdown measures after it emerged that over 200 more patients have died in the UK bringing the total number of deaths to 1,228.
