Parts of Portugal and Greece have been added to Wales' quarantine list but those travelling into England from the countries remain exempt from restrictions.

Welsh Health Minister Vaughan Gething said on Thursday that mainland Portugal and several Greek islands would be been added to the list. While the Azores and Madeira will remain exempt from quarantine, those returning from Mykonos, Zakynthos, Lesvos, Paros, Antiparos and Crete as well as Gibraltar and French Polynesia will have to self-isolate.

But Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced that there would be no changes to England’s quarantine list today. This is despite ministers facing pressure to roll out the quarantine measures for Greece for travellers returning to England after Scotland introduced restrictions earlier this week.

It also comes after many holidaymakers booked flights home costing up to £554 to avoid a potential self-isolation.

In other news, more than 1,700 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the UK while the death toll rose by 13.
