The third person in UK to catch Covid-19 died as 273 more people tested positive in the nation's biggest daily increase yet.

The man in his 60s, who had underlying health problems, died at North Manchester General Hospital after testing positive for coronavirus having recently returned from Italy.

It came as the death toll from an outbreak of coronavirus in Italy has leapt by 133 to 366, the largest daily rise in fatalities in Europe.

The total number of cases in Italy rose by 25% to 7,375 from 5,883 on Saturday, another record jump.
