UK Couple With Four Kids Arrested In Moldova

A British Muslim couple have been arrested in Moldova amid fears they were trying to travel to Syria with their four young children.

Asif Malik, 31, and his partner Sara Kiran, 29, were held in the Turkish capital Ankara with their children last month.

After being deported from Turkey, it is believed they travelled to Moldova where they were arrested again.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are working closely with UK and Moldavian authorities to help ensure their well-being.

"We will not comment further on cases involving minors."

The family from Slough, Berkshire, were seen boarding a ferry from Dover to Calais on 8 April and reported missing on 16 April.

The couple have a seven-year-old daughter named Zoha Malik, and sons Essa, four, Zakariya, two, and Yhaya, one.
