UK weather: Hottest day of year today with temperatures of 29C

The UK is enjoying the hottest day of the year today with temperature set to hit 29C in some parts of the country.

Brits are enjoying warmer weather than the holiday hotspots of Rhodes, Rome and Majorca.

According to the Met Office, the south-east of England is set to reach 29C, which is hotter than this year’s temperature records of 26C.

The temperature is also expected to be hot tomorrow, Sunday June 2, with the Met Office saying: “Dry to start and becoming hot once again.

Risk of an isolated thundery shower breaking out in the east during the afternoon.

Then outbreaks of rain later in the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 27 °C.”

The heat is mainly concentrated in the south of the country with fairly cloudy weather in the north of England, Scotland and Ireland.

Football fans may particularly enjoy the sun as they get ready for the Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Spurs tonight.
