UK households waking up to £960 discounts on energy bills before January
UK households are being handed £510 energy bill discounts - thanks to a radiator trick that's "simple". Households reckon the radiator trick, tip and hack has "helped them keep their heating off" in a major Cost of Living boost.
Kamilah Hale told the Sun newspaper although flushing her radiators cost £450, the procedure has knocked £80 a month off her bills, saving her £960 a year. The 35-year-old said: “I work from home and have Reynaud’s syndrome, which means I have poor circulation, so I am cold all of the time.
“I had four layers on in the house plus a onesie and my heating on and I was still cold all the time. I also had my heating on for around 11 months of the year.”

“It changed my life,” Kamilah said. “I just went out for the morning and when I came back the whole system had been flushed and my heating has been great ever since.” She said: “Now my radiators are so much hotter than they have ever been. I’m putting my heating on for hours less per day because it is actually warming up the house properly.”
She said: “My towel's dry within half an hour now whereas I could have the heating on for several hours before and they would still be damp.” Flushing radiators is an important part of maintaining your central heating system.
It removes sludge and rust from your radiators and boiler, and can help your system function more efficiently. If you have a large amount of sludge, you may need to use a power flush. An engineer can connect a machine to your heating system to push a liquid through the system.
They may also add an inhibitor solution to prevent sludge from building up again. Power flushing can cost between £400 and £900, depending on the size of your house, the number of radiators, and the type of system you have.
