UK will not introduce visa schemes for other sectors facing staff shortages- BBC

(Reuters) - The UK will not introduce visa schemes for sectors facing staff shortages other than HGV drivers and poultry workers, the BBC reported on Wednesday, citing sources.

"In order to move to a high-wage, high-skilled economy, businesses should invest in their workforce and improve pay and conditions," the BBC quoted a government source as saying, adding that the Home Office and Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy were not discussing the possibility of visas for other sectors.
