Sunak, Truss and Johnson – UK's 3 PMs from last 10 weeks – reunite at Remembrance Sunday service

The UK’s three prime ministers from the past 10 weeks have reunited at the Cenotaph.

Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss and Boris Johnson were pictured together at the Remembrance Sunday service in Whitehall.

It is tradition for the PM and their predecessors to appear at the central London service every year - and the trio were joined by Theresa May, David Cameron, Gordon Brown, Tony Blair and John Major.

For Truss, whose disastrous spell as PM lasted just 49 days - the shortest in UK history – it was her first public appearance since stepping down and making way for Sunak on 25 October, having taken over from Johnson on 6 September.

It was also the first time Sunak and Johnson had appeared together in public since their bitter political split in the summer, when Sunak’s resignation as chancellor ultimately led to the collapse of Johnson’s scandal-hit administration.

In the subsequent Tory leadership contest, Johnson was said to be urging colleagues to back "anyone but Rishi". In the event, Truss beat Sunak.

After Truss quit as PM a few weeks later, Johnson briefly tried to stage a comeback in a fast-tracked leadership contest, but dropped out of the race after failing to strike a deal during private talks with Sunak.
