The UK recorded 38,046 new Covid infections and 100 deaths linked to the virus on Friday.
The death toll now stands at 132,103 in the UK, according to Government figures.
Separate data published by the Office for National Statistics shows there have been more than 156,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
It comes as England's R number shifted slightly to between 1 and 1.1, according to the latest official data.
Last week, the R value - or reproduction number - was between 0.9 and 1.2.
The number indicates the average number of people each Covid-positive person goes on to infect.
If it is between 1 and 1.1 it means every 10 people infected will pass on the virus to between 10 and 11 other people on average.
