UK set for Indian Summer in October as Spain and African plume sweeps in
An 'Indian Summer' is predicted for October as an African plume could trigger warm temperatures across the country during the tenth month of the year. Weather expert and British Weather Services forecaster, Jim Dale, has issued his verdict this week.
While speaking to GB News, Mr Dale hinted at told GB News said the warm weather "won't last very long" but it could send temperatures skyrocketing. He said: "I think going forward, we have to look at a situation where we can expect several faces of autumn to unveil themselves.
"So whether it be cold, warm, looking towards an Indian summer, maybe in October at some point, or wet and windy, I think that's probably the direction of travel that we're going in to begin with." The meteorologist added: "If we are looking for the best estimate of what we can expect going through to autumn time, I would very much suggest, given that sea temperatures are where they are, that we will see an up step in terms of the wet and windy affairs.

"That doesn't mean we can't see a little bit of warmth from time to time, wafting up from Spain and Africa and the Indian summer coming along. That won't last very long, they never do in October time."
The furthest the Met Office forecast currently goes is to the first few days of October. In an outlook spanning from October 5 onwards, explains: "Typical autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types through the first half of October."
The forecast for October 5 to October 19 adds: "Periods of unsettled conditions, with wind and rain at times, will likely be interspersed with shorter spells of calmer and drier weather. Overall, wetter than average conditions are expected during this period, especially in central and southern areas.
"Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average overall, although some cooler spells are possible at times."
