UK snow maps show eight cities set to be 'worst hit' by snow flurries of up to 15cm as the Met Office issues yellow weather warning alerts. Forecasters have predicted yellow weather warnings affecting Scotland today, November 17.

WXCharts show snow to blanket the UK on November 20, with Sheffield, Leeds, and Wick expected to be impacted. Five other cities, including Northampton, Birmingham, Ipswich, Manchester, and Newcastle, are also set to be hit.

Scotland will see snow mainly in the north, in Aberdeen and Inverness, but also in parts of the southeast, in places like Edinburgh. As today progresses, it will turn 'wintry' with hail, sleet, and snow.

Regarding the forecast for next weekend onwards, the BBC Weather team said: "In the last week of November and at the start of December, which is the start of meteorological winter too, there is a greater likelihood of an ongoing and active North Atlantic pattern. This will bring intense low-pressure systems across the UK from the west or south-west. The latter would lead to further windy or stormy conditions at times.

"Temperatures should eventually return to above average for this time of year, except in parts of Scotland, where the colder air mass could persist, along with further snowfall and strong winds. In view of the approaching milder airmass from the south, some freezing rain cannot be ruled out in places during the transition period."

For Coventry, today will be mainly dry, with bright or sunny intervals in the morning. By the evening, it will turn cloudier with rain, with a maximum temperature of 9C. Tonight will be clearer skies with slight frost possible, with a minimum temperature of 0C.

Here is the Met Office outlook for Coventry over the next few days:

Monday:

A cloudy and chilly day with rain at times, this turning heavier and more persistent during the afternoon. Becoming breezier and milder later. Windier and colder overnight with hill snow. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Turning much colder. Often dry with a mixture of sunny spells and occasional wintry showers. The showers may fall as snow at times, with icy patches and frost likely overnight.
