UK tour of Steps musical 'Here and Now' coming to North East
Get ready to 'stomp' all night as the Steps musical 'Here and Now' is set to embark on a massive UK tour, with a stop in Newcastle next year.
The pop group Steps, formed by music mogul Pete Waterman, first exploded onto the scene back in 1997 with their debut single 5,6,7,8, which remained in the charts for an extended period due to its popular dance routine.
Within a year of its release, Steps - consisting of Faye, Lisa, Claire, H and Lee - became one of the nation's top pop acts, thanks to hits like Last Thing on My Mind, One For Sorrow and Tragedy. Other classics from Steps include Say You'll Be Mine, Love's Got A Hold on My Heart and After The Love Has Gone.

Since their reunion tour in 2012, the band has released new albums Tears on the dance floor and What The Future Holds, featuring tracks like Scared of the Dark and Heartbreak in this City. It was announced last year that a Steps musical was in development and, following a short preview in Birmingham earlier this month, the group revealed at The Alexandra theatre on Tuesday night that the opening run is just the beginning for Here and Now, as it will be touring the UK over the next two years.
Steps' North East fans are in for a treat as the musical is set to hit Newcastle Theatre Royal from October 28 to November 2, 2025. Tickets will be available for Friends Plus on Monday, December 2 at 10am, with the Friends sale starting on Wednesday, December 4 at 10am, Flexi Priority Pass/Advantage/Groups/Schools on December 6 and general sale on Tuesday, December 10.
The show is set in seaside superstore Better Best Bargains, where it's Friday night, the vibe is right, and everyone's dancing in the aisles. However, when Caz uncovers lies and betrayal on the shelves, the summer of love she and her friends envisioned suddenly feels like a tragedy, reports Chronicle Live.
