UK tourists in Benidorm face £1,000 fines for making 'trips to the beach'
UK tourists in Benidorm face £650 to £1k fines for breaking a little-known beach rule. The law stipulates late night trips to the beach are banned, with the European Union issuing financial penalties to Brits who flout the legal requirements.
Paul from the Who Knows Where channel on YouTube has outlined "10 don'ts" for tourists following his holiday in Benidorm earlier this month. Paul said: "If the police stop you - one, you will lose your drink, and two, you could receive an on-the-spot fine."
He also had a warning for beach vendors selling cocktails. "Do not touch these cocktails," he said. "They are not made by the bars on the beach, they are made in the back of dirty vans behind the bins." Discussing beaches, Paul also warned over smoking - and late night trips which could see Brits fined.

There are certain "restricted areas" where smoking is prohibited, he said, warning: "If you are caught smoking around those access points, you could face an on-the-spot fine there and then." And he said: "Between the hours of midnight and 7am, it is not permitted to enter any beach areas here in Benidorm."
Paul said fines for breaking this law range from £650 to £1,000. He also sounded the alarm over "any exchange places that are behind glass windows". He added: "Go up and ask [about the exchange rate], you will see signs on the boards outside but they aren't always what you will get."
British tourists form the largest market for the seaside resort of Benidorm, with over 832,000 Brits visiting the famed Costa Blanca region in 2023 alone. It remains a go-to holiday destination and vacation spot for Brits heading abroad.
Other popular destinations in Spain include the likes of the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands too.
