UK holidaymakers heading to Spain and Portugal have been issued an urgent warning as a dramatic 40C weather shift is expected. Weather maps and charts show the EU holiday favourites turning red as Brits prepare for their spring and summer getaways.

This week alone, temperatures are predicted to approach 40C with highs of 38C. Cities like Seville could experience 37C, while Badajoz, near the Portuguese border, could see 36C, according to weather maps and charts from WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data.

The Algarve is set to sizzle in 37C heat, while Lisbon, Porto and Braga will be in the mid-thirties. In Spain, Malaga will be in the low thirties and Huelva could reach nearly 40C, reports Birmingham Live.
