UK tourists visiting Canary Islands issued warning over '70kmh winds'
British holiday visiting the Canary Islands could face up to 70kmh winds as the government of the Canary Islands declares a pre-alert situation for wind in El Hierro, La Palma and Tenerife.
And yellow weather warnings, signifying 'risk', for wind have been put in place by Spanish weather agency Aemet for parts of La Palma and Tenerife, warning of up to 70kmh winds.
The situation of pre-alert came into force at 00:00 today (Wednesday, 4 December) and will be impacting mainly the southern coasts of Tenerife, and the high altitude areas of Tacoronte, El Sauzal, La Matanza, La Victoria, Santa Úrsula and La Orotava.

The pre-alert warning reads: "Moderate northeasterly wind forecast, with strong intervals on the coast, and easterly wind in mid- and high-altitude areas.
"Gusts of up to and exceeding 70 kilometres/hour are likely in the areas where northeasterly acceleration occurs (southeastern and northwestern coasts of the islands), as well as in high and mid-altitude areas of the islands and indicated areas."
And of the yellow warning, weather agency Aemet said: "Very strong gusts from the east-southeast are likely on the western slope of La Palma, in the area of El Golfo in El Hierro and in the northeast of Tenerife, during the second half of the day."
Holidaymakers in the Canary Islands are being urged to follow the following self-protection advice from the General Directorate of Emergencies to stay safe during strong winds.
Elsewhere, there is a rare amber weather warning - signifying 'important risk' - in the city of Girona, Spain, as well as the Balearic Islands and the south coast of Granada.
