UK tourists have vowed to hit Spain "where it hurts" as they issue a warning over their summer holidays. European Union holidaymakers have reacted to new Big Brother style laws and a 100 per cent tax on buying homes in the country.

"Thousands are now finding out tourism in India and the far East is much cheaper," one said. "It will cost Spain millions, and thousands of jobs." A second typed: "Never wanted to visit Spain. The USA is much better." A third added: "Don’t have to go to Spain so if they want a ban on tourists, that's fine. Just find somewhere else to go."

And another sniped: "Already high unemployment in Spain, they need to be careful what they wish for." A second fumed: "arrogant people. everyone should stop going. let's see them cry when they have no income, turkey is a far better destination with better mannered people who appreciate the income."

"Maybe you were lucky. My experience of Turkey outside the hotel was rude people trying to rip you off!" another said. And another wrote: "I can sympathise with their issues but the response seems overblown. I have nothing against them putting in whatever restrictions they want, it's their country, but to take it out on ordinary holidaymakers is self-sabotaging.

"A couple of years ago I was in a bay in Portugal and on the other side was Spain, accessible by boat. The Portuguese side was clean, well kept, respectful, and friendly. The Spanish side was none of these things. I know which I'd prefer." Another said: "They’ll come a cropper when people stop going and all the tourism / jobs go…"

"I get the holiday let thing, especially as we have it here too. It often then makes it difficult for locals to move on or upgrade property. But the mass protests they have on beaches is literally biting the hands that feed them. They all moaned when COVID happened crying they have no money, and business was failing but now they attack beachgoers!" another said.

Another asked: "What's with the Spanish cutting their nose off to spite their face? Greece and Italy are nicer anyway." Another said: "Why don't they just go somewhere else? Spain is cheap and nasty no matter where you go. I wouldn't holiday in Spain even if it was free.

"But I'll admit these British millennials are rude, have no respect, think the world owes them, they prioritise drugs, sex and alcohol etc. I wouldn't want to holiday with them either."
