London weather forecast: UK set for glorious 27C sunshine as temperatures rise

Londoners are set to bask in glorious sunshine this weekend as temperatures are forecast to rise throughout across the UK.

On Saturday and Sunday, revellers up and down the country will enjoy warmer conditions, especially in the south and south east.

The mercury is expected to hit 26 to 27C in London with “sunny clear skies” on Saturday, according to the Met Office.

The spells of sunshine will likely be short lived, however, as cooler weather with showers return next week.

Met Office forecaster Marco Patagna said that after unsettled bank holiday conditions, temperatures will rise ahead of the weekend across southern England.

Warmer weather is also expected in the northwest but it will more likely accompanied by rainy spells, he added.

“Temperatures over the next couple days are warmer than what we have seen yesterday," he said.

“Monday to Wednesday temperatures for many parts of the UK will peak at 19 to 20C.

“Temperatures will then rise during Thursday and Friday especially in the south and south east, which will get 23 to 24 degrees.

Mr Patagna added that temperatures will peak on Saturday at 27C in London but chances of rain remain for Northern Ireland and Scotland.

“Next week temperatures for Sunday onwards is looking to cool off again from the west,” he added.

For many parts into the following week, dry weather with some sunshine is expected.

However, there are also signals for occasional bouts of more unsettled weather, especially in the northwest, but also the risk of thundery showers, mainly in the south.
