Ukraine Dismisses Claims Russian Strikes Killed Hundreds of Soldiers in Kramatorsk

Ukrainian officials dismissed Russian claims that rocket strikes on the city of Kramatorsk killed hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers on Sunday, January 8.

Kramatorsk Mayor Oleksandr Honcharenko said there were no casualties after Russian strikes hit two educational institutions and eight apartment buildings and garages. Reporters at the scene from several outlets said they did not see evidence that the strikes killed hundreds of soldiers.

The reports contradict Russian claims that the strikes killed 600 Ukrainian soldiers. Russia said the strikes were conducted as retaliation over the Ukrainian attack on Makiivka the previous week.
