Bomb Shelters Built at Bus Stops in Ukraine's Kharkiv

A 12-seater strike shelter was installed at a bus stop in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on Friday, August 19, the first of 25 planned structures to help citizens in the city stay safe from Russian shelling.

Footage shared by Suspilne Kharkiv shows one such shelter in the city.

Suspilne reported that the structures were made out of concrete and featured 12 seats, a TV screen with surveillance cameras, and 220 pounds (100 kg) of sand for putting out fires.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov has pledged to build 25 such shelters across the city, the report added.

Similar shelters are being built in Chuhuiv, also in Kharkiv Oblast. Credit: Suspilne Kharkiv via Storyful
