Ukrainian Forces Use Bomb-Sniffing Dog to Clear Former Russian Base

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service has been using bomb-sniffing dogs to help clear sites formerly occupied by Russian forces, with video here showing an operation outside Trostyanets in Sumy Oblast.

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty released footage on June 20 showing Tay, a three-year-old Belgian shepherd, sniffing around an abandoned building searching for mines.

Members of the SES said the former brick factory was used as a base for around 50 Russian soldiers. They described the damaged done to the building, and said the Russian’s retreated in civilian clothes “on bicycles and in cars they had stolen.” Credit: RFE/RL via Storyful
