The UK's 'most spectacular' Wetherspoon's is in North Wales
A list has been published of the UK's 10 'most spectacular Wetherspoon's' - with a North Wales pub topping the table. Daily Facts created the list - posting the results on social media app TikTok.
JD Wetherspoon has a reputation for transforming iconic buildings across the UK but it's the one in Llandudno that was selected the "most spectacular". The Palladium was designed by Arthur Hewitt and originally built in 1920, initially as an early picture house, theatre, music hall, opera house, and circus.
The theatre had 1,500 seats in the stalls and two balconies. In 1972, the building was split, with a bingo hall occupying the stalls area and a 600-seat cinema above.

In 2001, the building was converted by Wetherspoon into the pub it is today, but still retaining many of the original features of the theatre. It is Grade II listed and recognised as an impressive Baroque styled, entertainment building.
In recent years the chain spent around £1m on a full repair, restoration and redecoration of the historic fibrous decorative ceiling. This has helped the pub secure its UK title.
Other pubs on the list included The Opera House in Tunbridge Wells, the Winter Gardens in Harrogate, and The North Western in Liverpool.
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We are very proud of The Palladium in Llandudno. It is housed in a magnificent building which the company has restored over the years.
“The pub is a great asset to the company and we believe, to the people of Llandudno too.”
