Netflix has announced that the show will be returning for its second outing, with all of the main cast members reprising their roles.
But this time, Gatewood – best known for playing Vincent Griffith in the Vampire Diaries spinoff – will be joining the Umbrella Academy cast as an entirely new character.
Raymond is described as a born leader with smarts, gravitas and confidence, but also a warm, dedicated and devoted husband.
And as an added bonus, the streaming giant also revealed the casting of two more stars, both of whom will be playing brand new characters created for the show that haven't been adapted from the comics.
Ritu Arya (Humans) will play Lila, a 'chameleon' with a twisted sense of humour who can be as brilliant or insane as the mission requires.
Making up the new trio is Marin Ireland, who is also set to star in another comic-based show in FX's Y: The Last Man adaptation. In The Umbrella Academy, she'll play Sissy, a fearless, no-nonsense mum from Texas who married "for all the wrong reasons," but is ready to take on the world.
At the end of season one (spoilers, obviously), Number Five used his time-travelling capabilities to save his siblings from being destroyed while the world and everyone living on it was blitzed to a pulp.
So in season two, we will meet the Hargreeves kids once again in a brand new time and location as they attempt to figure out how to solve the mess they're in, which means dealing with their sister Vanya, who caused the apocalypse and will continue to remain a threat until they can figure out how to help her.
The Umbrella Academy season 2 is expected to arrive on Netflix in early 2020, while the first season is currently available on the streaming platform.
