Since The Umbrella Academy dropped on Netflix this weekend, fans have been quick to compare Robert Sheehan's character Klaus Hargreeves with his turn on Misfits as Nathan Young.

After all, they're both hedonistic and rather smart-arsed… though Sheehan doesn’t think there's actually much similarity at all, revealing why he thinks they're different.

"No! No, I think they’re different enough," the actor told Metro. "I think what’s good, Klaus gets to the essence of the journey, the change starts pretty much you know…episode four.

"I think, even late [episode] three, he’s kidnapped. You start to see the pain that he’s going through, you know?"

He then added of his Misfits character: "I think Nathan is a character who sort’ve… he wasn’t sociopathic, but he didn’t feel great emotional pain to any depth! He just kind of was what he was, but Klaus is completely the opposite I think.

"He’s completely burdened by pain, so that’s what the dead are, that’s what drugs are trying to temporarily salve," Sheehan continued. "He’s a very, very fragile creature. I think if him and Nathan ever met, Nathan would probably have him dead within the week!"

The Umbrella Academy season 1 is streaming now on Netflix.
