Unai Emery hasn't ruled out Aston Villa completing further business next week, but says he is satisfied the current make-up of his squad.

The transfer window shuts at 11pm next Friday, a day after Villa discover their eight opponents in the Champions League league phase. Monchi has so far added seven players to Emery's squad, but Samuel Iling-Junior could leave on loan like the club's first arrival of the summer Lewis Dobbin.

Amadou Onana was the only new signing to start Villa's opening-weekend clash at West Ham, but Ian Maatsen and Jaden Philogene both made strong impacts off the bench. Ross Barkley stayed among the subs, while Enzo Barrenechea didn't make the squad.

Villa host Arsenal on Saturday in search of consecutive wins to start the new campaign after beating the Gunners twice last term. They’ve beaten Arsenal in three consecutive Premier League meetings twice before – November 1993 and February 2021.

Asked in his pre-match press conference about what business could be completed next week, Emery said: "Now we are more or less happy with the players we have in the squad. Of course, if we can add some players which are a good opportunity we are going to be ready.

"Something can change, players leaving, or players joining. The most important things in the transfer window, we did."

Villa have been linked with an interest in Raheem Sterling, who is expected to leave Chelsea before the window shuts. The Times claimed that Villa have opened talks over a possible move for the 29-year-old.
