Unai Emery has confirmed Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara will play for Aston Villa Under-21s next week ahead of returning to first-team action after the international break.

Both players returned to full training on a daily basis last week after respective ACL injuries. Mings suffered his serious injury more than 13 months ago in the first half of the club's 2023/24 opening fixture at Newcastle United.

Kamara, meanwhile, sustained his knee ligament injury in Villa's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United back In February. He had started all 20 of the Premier League matches he was available for prior to his injury setback.

"They are training very well," Emery said about the duo in his press conference. "They started to be 100 per cent completely training with us last week.

"The plan with them is to try and start playing with under-21s next week for 45 minutes. After the break they will be available if everything goes well."

Villa's Under-21s will play against Newcastle United in the Premier League 2 on Saturday, October 5 before playing at Bolton in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, October 8.

Villa are looking to continue their strong start to the season when they take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday (2pm). Villa have won four of their first five Premier League games, plus their first Champions League league phase fixture against BSC Young Boys and the Carabao Cup third round clash at Wycombe Wanderers.

Opponents Ipswich have failed to win any of their opening five Premier League matches this season. They last had a longer winless start to a top-flight season in 1982-83 (opening six games).
