But if you are looking for a cosy place to escape from the freezing temperatures this winter, where is the best town to go to find one?
An Essex commuter area which not many people would've thought would be the place that offers the cosiest pubs, has indeed been named one of the best places in the UK for a cosy pub. Ranking seventh in the list, this town boasts amazing pubs perfect for winter.

Basildon claims the title of the UK’s seventh cosiest area for pubgoers this winter, offering some of the warmest spots to enjoy on gameday. In contrast, four of the country’s largest cities fell to the bottom of the rankings, providing the fewest cosy pub experiences.
GG.co.uk compiled a comprehensive list of the best-rated pubs with fireplaces across 73 major UK towns and cities. The analysis used Google ratings and data from UseYourLocal.com for areas with populations exceeding 100,000.
Each location earned a cosiness score based on the number of pubs with real fireplaces that also featured large TV screens, broadcast sports like football, rugby, cricket, or horse racing, or provided access to Sky Sports or TNT Sports. The Basildon borough came in at seventh, with the study naming the White Lion in Stanford-le-Hope, Fox and Hounds in Billericay and the Swan Pub & Restaurant in Stanford-le-Hope among the cosiest pubs in the area. With 11 pubs featuring fireplaces per 100,000 residents, Basildon is overall home to 13 pubs offering the charm of a real fire.
