Undercover Rover: The Camouflage Dog That Blends In With The Living Room Rug

Can you spot the dog?

Don’t worry if you can’t, because this is one seriously camouflaged canine.

Stanley the seven-year-old poodle has been causing his owners all kinds of trouble, because his fur is a perfect match for their living room floor.

A family from Wigan, Greater Manchester, keep tripping over Stanley because they cannot see his grey colour against the deep-pile rug.

Mother-of-five Deb Lythgoe, 34, and her fiancée Pete Chisnall, 37, realised something wasn’t quite right a few days after buying the slate grey coloured rug.

But Stanley isn’t moving off the rug any time soon - it’s become his favourite spot in the house and he likes to lie there every day.

“We bought the rug a few months ago and put it in the front room. Stanley straight away liked it and started laying on it,” said Miss Lythgoe.

“We noticed he matched the colour but we didn’t think anything of it at first.

“However, suddenly we kept finding ourselves tripping up over him.

“That’s when we realised that when he is lay on there you actually can’t see him. Thankfully we’ve not had any serious accidents though.”

She took a photo of Stanley with six-month-old baby Joseph and shared it online.

“It made us laugh so we took a picture of it and shared it with my friends. We didn’t really realise just how invisible he is,” she said.

“But everyone who saw it couldn’t believe it. It took lots of people ages to realise there was even a dog in the picture. Everyone was amazed by how much he blended in. Everyone loved it.”

She added: “Stanley is a really good boy. He is really good with the kids and has a lovely temperament.

“While he keeps finding himself in trouble with the rug, it’s not his fault and it is the only problem he causes - he’s actually very well behaved.”
