Work underway to repair Glasgow west end chimney after dramatic collapse

Works are underway to repair a chimney that fell from a west end tenement building during Storm Eowyn.

Today (January 27) scaffolding was erected by Glasgow based company North West Roofing as they set out to repair a property after its chimney collapsed on Friday during a 'danger to life' weather warning.

The dramatic incident happened on Cresswell Street, in the city's west end. The moment was caught on video, showing the bricks tumbling onto the pavement below narrowly missing parked vehicles.

The local behind the camera was just "relieved" that there were no pedestrians below at the time.

Speaking to Glasgow Live at the time, she said: "We were really shocked.

"It was quite surreal seeing it happen from our angle, and I can't imagine what it would've felt like for those affected in the flat below the roof.

"It has shown further proof that storm Eowyn is a serious danger to life.

"I feel so sorry for those who property has been damaged however so grateful no one was walking beneath at the time."

Now, the North West Roofing team are working hard to repair the damage. Posting to X, formerly Twitter this morning, they wrote: "Storm Response Update: Over 70 jobs attended in 48 hours.
