ITV definitely hasn't forgotten about Unforgotten series 4.
BAFTA-nominated cast members Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar are set to return as DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunny Khan to investigate all-new cold cases and mysterious disappearances.
It has been over a year since filming commenced on these new episodes, but ITV has now shared the exciting news that season four is coming to screens beginning on Monday, February 22 at 9pm.
ITV confirmed last winter that this new series would challenge Stuart and Khan like never before when they probe an "emotionally-charged cold case murder" where a dissected body is found in a scrap metal yard.
This year's cast will feature Bhaskar and Walker being joined by New Tricks star Sheila Hancock, Killing Eve actress Susan Lynch, EastEnders veteran Phaldut Sharma, Ackley Bridge star Liz White, Andy Nyman of Peaky Blinders and Little Boy Blue's Clare Calbraith as well as Lucy Speed.
Veteran cast members Peter Egan, Alastair Mackenzie, Carolina Main, Lewis Reeves and Jordan Long are all set to return for this disturbing cold case investigation as well.
The fourth series of Unforgotten has been long delayed from hitting screens, having originally been ordered by ITV all the way back in 2018.
As mentioned, production finally started last January, but there were significant challenges to completing the series due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutting filming worldwide only a few weeks later.
"I am so excited to be bringing back the Unforgotten team for a fourth series, as Cassie and Sunny take on perhaps their most challenging case to date," writer Chris Lang has said.
"Once again, we have assembled an astonishing cast, and I cannot wait to see how the very finest actors of their generation, start bringing my characters to life."
Thankfully, the Unforgotten team were eventually able to press on and new episodes will finally be with us in under two weeks' time!
