Unforgotten series three: Cast, location and three other things you need to know about the ITV drama

The latest season of Unforgotten is set to make its way to screens following an intense end to series two.

The show saw an emotional end to a dramatic season of the crime-drama.

What happened at the end of season two?

The series saw detectives Cassie Stuart - played by Nicola Walker - and Sunny Khan - played by Sanjeev Bhaskar - choosing to walk away from a case after discovering that their suspects had been victims of sexual abuse when they were children and had worked together to murder their abusers.

The show, naturally, ended on a cliff-hanger with Cassie walking off into the night after making the difficult decision, and the third series will imply strained tensions between the two cops.

What’s the new season about?

The six-part series will see the detective duo investigate a host of familiar faces in a bid to solve the murder of a high-profile teenage girl.

It’s revealed that she has been missing since 1999 and the pair vow to find the murderer after discovering the body at a building site just off the M1.

Who’s the cast?

Chris Lang’s drama sees Walker and Bhaskar return as detectives, DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunny Khan, on a mission to solve decade-old crimes and seek justice for the victims.

The Crown’s Alex Jennings and Pirates of the Caribbean’s Kevin R McNally also appear alongside Line of Duty’s Neil Morrissey and Indian Summers’ James Fleet.

Where was the show filmed?

Filming for the third season kicked off in Ealing earlier this year.

While the Bristol leg of the shoot took place in April at Ashton Court, it also included locations in Bristol including the Suspension Bridge.

Other locations show the crime-drama being shot up and down the country including Uxbridge, Buckinghamshire and Limington in Somerset.

When is it on?

Unforgotten returns Sunday, July 15 at 9pm on ITV, airing weekly. Episodes will be available on ITV Hub shortly after.
