How Unforgotten viewers felt about series 4 premiere after three-year wait
Unforgotten returned with its eagerly-anticipated series 4 tonight (February 22), and it's safe to say that fans were chuffed to welcome it back onto their small screens.
The ITV crime drama, which stars Sanjeev Bhaskar and Nicola Walker as London-based detectives DI Sunny Khan and DCI Cassie Stuart respectively, premiered in 2015. It aired its second series in 2017 and followed that up with a third the following year.
Its fourth was originally set to kick off production in August 2019, but the broadcaster didn't announce until January 2020 that filming had commenced.

According to viewers, it was more than worth the wait though, as the opening episode was full of the "same magic" as its previous instalments.
"I'd almost forgotten how much I enjoy #Unforgotten. It's great to have an excellent drama on terrestrial TV," one watcher wrote on Twitter, as another said: "What an absolutely brilliant first episode of #Unforgotten.
"I'm so glad its back #nicolawalker is such a phenomenal actress. I was hooked on this from the 1st series."
"Haven't seen one negative review on Twitter so far. Proves how much that was enjoyed," a third added.
This evening's instalment saw Sunny faced with investigating a dismembered body that was found in a scrapyard. Before long, the team deduced that the remains of the victim had likely been stored in a domestic freezer for 30 years, complicating the case.
Meanwhile, Cassie – who had previously vowed to take some time off work to spend it with her ailing father – signed on to serve once again, having learned that she isn't entitled to her full pension payment unless she completes her 30 years.

Brilliant start to the new series of #Unforgotten. The amazing #NicolaWalker delivers an acting masterclass in the scene where she returns to her desk and is listening to info on the case, but her eyes are darting around and she is trying to quickly adjust back into her job.
