First there was a unicorn puppy.

Social media users, animal lovers and, yes, news websites across the world lost their collective minds when a dog with a tail on his head was handed into a Missouri rescue centre this week.

Thousands applied to adopt Narwhal, who was compared to the mythical animal because the tail sort of, possibly, in a certain light, looked like a very floppy, very furry horn on his head.

Now, it seems, someone at the Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire branch of the RSPCA may have been watching the fuss and taking notes.

The charity has announced it has a, er, unicorn rabbit available for adoption.

Wonky has an ear that is slightly to the centre of his head and occasionally sticks up – “just like a unicorn horn,” spokesperson Carol Spindler said gamely.

"He has such an unusual look and it's amazing how his ear flips up and stands upright,” she added.

He was handed in to the centre after his previous owners no longer felt able to keep him.

Now, the charity is hoping to re-home the four-year-old in time for Christmas and called for potential owners to get in touch.

It says he would suit a family with children and benefit from a female rabbit's company.

"This lovable boy really deserves a home where he'll get lots of attention and treats," said Ms Spindler, referring, one assumes, to the children rather than the female companion.
