United Airlines flight forced to make emergency landing in Scotland after mid-air alert
A flight bound for the United States has been forced to divert to Scotland after issuing a mid-air alert.
The United Airlines aircraft departed from Frankfurt in Germany this morning, August 27.
It was due to land at Chicago O’Hare International Airport after a nine-hour journey, however the pilot was forced to divert to Edinburgh Airport at around 9am.

The UA945 flight landed safely in Scotland after issuing a 700 squawk code in mid-air.
The flight map shows the aircraft flying over the east of Scotland near Dundee before making a U-turn to the capital where it landed at around 9.48am.
The airline has confirmed the alert was sounded due to a medical issue with a passenger.
Edinburgh Airport confirmed it accepted the diversion.
A spokesperson for United Airlines said: "United flight 945 from Frankfurt to Chicago O’Hare diverted to Edinburgh to address a medical issue with a passenger. The flight was met by medical personnel on arrival, and subsequently, the flight departed for Chicago O’Hare."
